Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting & Finance
i. Graduate of Gombe State University or any other recognized University
ii. Higher National Diploma (HND) holders with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant discipline
iii. Holders of other professional qualifications which may be acceptable to the University Senate

M.Sc Accounting
i. Graduate of Gombe State University in Accounting or any other recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Honours Lower Division
ii. Holders of relevant qualification, B.Ed Accounting with a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance from a recognized University
iii. Candidates with Third Class Honours degree may be eligible to apply with a relevant Postgraduate Diploma with an Upper Credit

Postgraduate Diploma in Management
i. Graduate of Gombe State University or any other recognized University
ii. Higher National Diploma (HND) holders with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant discipline
iii. Holders of other professional qualifications which may be acceptable to the University Senate

Master in Business Administration (MBA)
i. A Bachelors degree holder in relevant discipline from Gombe State University or any recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division
ii. Holders of Third Class Honours degree; Higher National Diploma (HND) with a Postgraduate Diploma in relevant discipline

M.Sc Business Administration
i. Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Gombe State University or any recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division
ii. Applicant with a good Second Class Lower Division in relevant field of study other than Business Administration but possess a Postgraduate Diploma or HND in any related field of Administration at Upper Credit level from Gombe State University or any recognized University may be considered

M.A History
i. Candidates must possess at least Second Class Lower Division Honours degree in History from Gombe State University or any recognized University
ii. Candidates with good Second Class Lower Division Honours degree in History Education from Gombe State University or any other recognized University may be considered

Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA)
i. Applicants should possess a Bachelors degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification from a recognized University

Master of Public Administration (MPA)
i. A degree in Public Administration from Gombe State University or any recognized University with minimum of Second Class Lower Division
ii. Applicant with Bachelors degree, HND with a Postgraduate Diploma at Credit Level
iii. Applicant with a Postgraduate Diploma in relevant field may be considered

M.Sc Public Administration
i. Applicant should possess a degree in Public Administration, Political Science and International Relation from Gombe State University or any other recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division

Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry
i. The minimum qualification is Third Class Honours degree in Chemistry, Chemistry Education, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Food Science or a Pass at Credit Level at HND in Science Laboratory Technology or any other equivalent qualification approved by the Senate of the Gombe State University

M.Sc Inorganic Chemistry
i. Applicants should possess a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Gombe State University or any other recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Lower Honours degree
ii. Candidates with good Second Class Honours B.Sc (Ed) Chemistry may be considered but would be required to take Undergraduate Courses they may be deficient
iii. Candidates with Third Class Honours degree in Chemistry or B.Sc (Ed) Chemistry or HND and PGD in Chemistry may also be considered

M.Sc Environmental Biology 
i. Applicant should possess a minimum of Second Class Lower degree in Biology or any related field from Gombe State University or any other recognized University

M.Sc Applied Parasitology & Entomology 
i. Candidate should possess a minimum of Second Class Lower Division degree in Zoology, or related field from Gombe State University or any recognized University

M.Sc Hydrobiology & Fisheries 
i. Applicant should possess a minimum of Second Class Lower Division degree in Biology, or related field from Gombe State University or any recognized University

M.Sc Botany (Ecology) 
i. Candidate should possess a minimum of Second Class Lower Division degree in Botany, or related field from Gombe State University or any recognized University

M.Sc Botany (Plant Physiology) 
i. Candidate should possess a minimum of Second Class Lower Division degree in Botany, or related field from Gombe State University or any recognized University

M.Sc Physics 
i. Candidate should possess a minimum of Second Class Lower Honours degree in Physics or good B.Sc (Ed) Physics with Second Class Lower Division from Gombe State University or any recognized University

M.Ed Guidance & Counseling 
i. Applicants with Bachelors degree in Education obtained at not less than Second Class Lower Division from Gombe State University or any other recognized University
ii. Candidates with a Bachelor degree plus PGDE may be considered
iii. Applicants with a Third Class Honours degree in Education with a minimum of Five years Teaching Experience
iv. Higher National Diploma (HND) holders may be considered provided that such applicant possess Postgraduate Diploma in Education obtained at not less than credit level

M.Ed Educational Psychology 
i. Applicants with Degree Honours in Education obtained at not less than Second Class Lower Division from Gombe State University or any other recognized University
ii. Higher National Diploma (HND) holder may be considered provided that such applicants possess Postgraduate Diploma in Education obtained at not less than credit level

Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
i. To be considered for admission all prospective candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor degree or HND Upper Credit in their Teaching subject

How to Apply for Gombe State University Postgraduate Admission.

Interested candidates for all the School of Postgraduate Studies Programmes should pay the sum of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) to Gombe State University Diamond Bank Account Number 0033626627 and submit the teller to Bursary Department, collect receipt and proceed to School of Postgraduate Studies for collection of the form(s).

This is to notify the general public that The University of Port-Harcourt, (UNIPORT) is now selling PGD and M.Sc in Centre for Marine Pollution Monitoring and Seafood safety (CMPMSS) admission form for the 2019/2020 academic session – see application and requirement below;


Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) and the Master of Science (M.Sc) Programmes of the Centre for Marine Pollution Monitoring and Seafood safety (CMPMSS) for the 2019/2020 Academic Session.

INTRODUCTION:

The National Centre for Marine Pollution Monitoring was established at the University of Port Harcourt in April 2009 for the implementation of the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA Technical Cooperation projects on the Environment with the emphasis on marine pollution monitoring. The projects are jointly supported by the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Centre’s operation includes; Research, pollution and seafood safety monitoring, capacity development and information dissemination. Its programmes are centered on the conservation, protection and management of our aquatic resources

PHILOSOPHY:

The Programmes are based on the philosophy of training graduates with the knowledge on scientific principles that underpin 20thcentury environmental pollution issues. There has been a growing concern for many years over the impact of environmental pollution. Therefore, the programmes; M.Sc. and PGD in Environmental Pollution Studies aim to be ranked among the best environmental investigation, research innovation and knowledge transfer Centre in Africa. Emphasis will be based on offering standards that would enable graduates to build further upon their knowledge, skills and contribute to national development, self-reliance or entrepreneurship as well as propagation of knowledge in the field of environmental pollution studies. The Programmes will offer sound training with relevant practical exposure that will enable students to develop skills which will significantly improve intellectual capacity and critical reasoning required in every facet of the environment to address pollution issues.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Post- Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Environmental Pollution Studies

Candidate must possess 5 credits in relevant subjects (Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry or Physics and one other subject) at ordinary level School Certificate, in addition to B.Sc in Fisheries, Biochemistry, Crop and Soil Science, Animal and Environmental Biology, Microbiology and Chemistry, obtained from institutions recognized by the Senate of the University of Port Harcourt. The degree should not be less than Third Class with a CGPA of 2.00 on a 5-point scale.

  1. Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Environmental Pollution Studies

Candidates must possess 5 credits in relevant subjects (Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry or Physics and one other subject) in addition to B.Sc in Fisheries, Crop and Soil Science, Biochemistry, Animal and Environmental Biology, Microbiology and Chemistry or in any other relevant course obtained from institutions recognized by the Senate of the University of Port Harcourt. The degree should not be less than Second Class Honours or equivalent level with a CGPA of 3.00.

DURATION OF PROGRAMME:

The minimum and maximum length of time for a full-time PGD and M.Sc. Degree candidates are 12months and 24months respectively. In certain exceptional instances arrangement for Part-Time may be considered.

STRUCTURE OF PROGRAMME:

The programme structure is modular for each course highlighted below. Each module is taught alongside with continuous assessment, intensive practical and examination. In addition to course work, there are group projects; field trips to relevant sites to obtain practical experience and conduct research.

AWARD OF DEGREE:

Successful students at the end of the programme shall be awarded PGD or M.Sc. Degree in Environmental Pollution, applicable.
